Bachelor of Screen Arts
In my final year as a Screen Arts Student, I’ve contributed to three powerful short films, showcasing my passion for storytelling through visual design. As First Assistant Director on Who Do We Have Here? I demonstrated leadership for a smooth production. As Production Designer on Nokia Low and Facade, I designed props and costumes to create an immersive set. These experiences have helped to shape my creative journey, and driven me to continue exploring the world of cinema.
Who Do We Have Here? tells the story of children's TV show character, Dilly Bog, as he is awoken into human form from a soft-toy and struggles to adapt to the unfamiliar world around him. Dilly Bog interrogates the show’s characters about his existence and purpose, disrupting the show’s structure. This short thriller/comedy aims to warp the nostalgia people have surrounding the shows they grew up with.
Nokia Low is a short film drama that details a toxic, codependent relationship. Michael supports him and his girlfriend, Jasmine. Jasmine is an addict, and depends on Michael to fund her expensive addiction. Michael loves her, and knows if she keeps using, she will die. But he cannot bring himself to deny her the money. Because he is obsessed with the fear that she will leave him if he does.
Facade follows two young adults living with chronic pain (fibromyalgia and Ehlers-Danlos syndrome) as they discuss a first date and a new job over a picnic lunch. Although they live with difficult health conditions, these girls choose humour as a way to cope with life and support each other. We jump back and forth, from the present time at the picnic, to flashbacks, as the girls discuss their lives.
