Peppa Hariata Reweti-Russell (Peppa Reweti)

‘Hīkoi’ means to walk or march. In this context, it refers to the Māori individuals who have moved abroad, following in the footsteps of their ancestors. Hīkoi is a collection of illustrated stories informed by the experiences of five Māori travellers. Hīkoi is intended to inspire and support Māori overseas by sharing different experiences in similar circumstances. I wanted to celebrate Māori travel, and promote open korero, reflection and learning.
