Piki Mai is a book written and designed with the goal of exploring rock climbing in Tangata Whenua spaces, specifically Whanganui Bay, Located on the shores of Lake Taupo. It is written from my own perspective but draws from others' perspectives within the Whanganui Bay climbing community. It touches on the history, experience and culture of the area in the hopes of educating how to be better Kaitiaki in the space and facilitating deeper relationships and ongoing connection to climbing areas within Aotearoa. Through this, I sought to explore how rock climbing translates visually into a printed medium.
